England tour of India - Cricket: Its a very happy moment, says Kumbles father

Bangalore: The 300-wicket mark reached by Anil Kumble was the highlight of the days play on the second day of the third Test between England and India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.

The India leg spinners achievement was acclaimed and celebrated by fans not only in his home town of Bangalore, but also among all the cricketing buffs in the country. And Kumbles family was the most happiest of all.

"We are very happy at this moment. He never set a target when he started his career. Whatever Test wickets he achieves at the end of his career is what we are looking forward to," his elated father told reporters.

Former Test star and ICC panel match referee G R Vishwanath summed up the mood of the cricketing fraternity when he said, brilliant.

"We were waiting for this moment since yesterday and it is absolutely brilliant," he remarked.Indias pace legend Kapil Dev, who is the only other Indian bowler to have reached the target also praised Kumble for achieving the feat.

"All credit goes to Kumble," Kapil Dev said.
