Baripada: Orissa registered its second consecutive victory in the East Zone Ranji Trophy league when it defeated Bihar by an innings and 97 runs on the fourth and final day of the match on Monday.
|Bihar, which needed a huge 457 runs in its second innings to make Orissa bat again, was all out for 359 shortly after lunch despite a fighting 149-run seventh wicket partnership between Tariqur Rehman (122) and M S Dhoni (97). Bihar, 224 for six at close on Sunday, began confidently with Rehman and Dhoni adding 73 runs before medium pacer Prabhanjan Mallick, adjudged man-of-the-match for his unbeaten 207, provided the crucial breakthrough. Mallick trapped Rehman leg before for 122 made in 366 minutes, off 263 balls and with 18 fours. |
