Bangalore: Karnataka crushed Goa by nine wickets in a South Zone Ranji Trophy league match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Thursday. Chasing a modest victory target of 65 in its second innings, the hosts rattled up the required runs in 11.2 overs for the loss of skipper J Arun Kumar's wicket. Arun Kumar made 26 before being caught by Avinash Aware off Syed Khalid. Shyam Ponnappa (27 not out) and Rowland Barrington (13 not out) saw them through as the match ended before lunch on the third day. Earlier, resuming from the overnight 159 for seven, the visitors were all out for 198. Balakrishna Misquin remained unbeaten on 41. For Karnataka, Sunil Joshi was the pick of the bowlers taking four wickets for 47, while N C Aiyappa and Dodda Ganesh took two each. With this match, Karnataka has completed its league engagements, tallying 22 points, while Goa, which has finished its, has 14.
