Kolkata: Contrary to reports, the England team management had not 'softened' its stand in relation to the standard of practice facilities at the Calcutta Cricket and Football Club (CCFC) ground though it considered the matter to be closed.''We do not believe that the facilities are adequate for an international cricket team and made our views clear through proper channels to both the Cricket Association of Bengal and the Indian cricket Board,'' the England team management said in a statement. The team management said it had not aired its views in public until all the avenues for discussions had been exhausted and coach Duncan Fletcher only spoke to the media as a last resort on Sunday evening. The statement said that at no stage did operations manager Phil Neale discusse the issue in public and quotes attributed to him in the Press were ''false''.The team management, however, praised the practice facilities at the Eden Gardens and said that the team management was grateful to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for giving its players the opportunity to practice at the ground on Tuesday.
