Kolkata: Elegant left-hander Hemang Badani on Thursday said the six-week break from international cricket after the Sri Lankan tour was a "blessing in disguise", which had helped him to come back into the national team as a technically improved batsman.''The six-week break helped me to analyse my game and detect the faults. I rectified my faults and started playing better,'' Badani told reporters after a practice session at the Eden Gardens.Badani, who has a decent record in the shorter version of the game, said that playing across the line and playing shots too early were the main reasons for his failure.''I was playing across the line and was playing shots too early. I was not getting the runs and became more and more desperate. The pressure kept building on me,'' he explained. The Tamil Nadu middle order batsman said it was a terrible feeling, to be out of the national team and spend his time watching his teammates on the television at home.''It was only when watching the team's performance on television that I learnt about the small flaws I was making which had escaped my notice earlier,'' he said.On whether the absence of dependable batsman Rahul Dravid will put more responsibility on his shoulder, Badani said, ''At this level, you have to be prepared to cope with such things. I always believe in playing according to situation.''Asked about India's chances in the six-match series One-day series, Badani said England has a decent side and it could not be taken lightly. PTI
