Chennai: A record sale of tickets for the third One-day match between India and England to be played at M A Chidambaram Stadium has fetched a whopping sum of Rs 1.03 crores."Not a single ticket is available for sale in the 46,000 capacity stadium," Ashok Kumbhat, secretary, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), said on Saturday. Terming this trend as unprecedented, Kumbhat said, I had witnessed such demand for tickets in the past only for matches involving Pakistan and the West Indies but the ensuing match on January 25 has proved that the interest in the game by sports loving public of Tamil Nadu has grown by leaps and bounds."About the target for the match in terms of financial benefits for the Association, Kumbhat, a reputed chartered accountant, said, "My target is Rs 2 crore'. He explained that the sale of tickets so far was from the public at the counters on Saturday morning and the tickets bought by the sponsors of various blocks in the stadium."Revenue from sale of tickets by visa card and the race club has not been taken into account and these figures would be available in a couple of days," he said.
