Kolkata: The England cricket team will arrive in the metropolis on January 11 for the second leg of its winter tour of India, to prepare for the six-match One-day series, beginning at the Eden Gardens on January 19.Nasser Hussain and his men will reach here more than a week in advance to get acclimatised to the conditions in the metropolis before the Limited Overs series gets underway. With the Eden Gardens being readied for the day-night encounter, the England team will have its practice sessions at the Calcutta Cricket and Football Club (CCFC) ground in South Kolkata. The team, having its own security managers, will practice amidst tight security on all the days. The city police will take special security measures during the teams nine-day stay. A senior Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official said no unauthorised person will be allowed inside the CCFC ground during the team's practice sessions. The visitors will play a friendly One-day match against Bengal XI on January 17 but it will not be open to the public since the CCFC ground has no gallery. Although the media will be allowed to enter the ground, they will be restricted to the specified area allotted to them. Apart from the special security arrangements inside the ground, policemen will also be deployed outside as a precautionary measure.Tight security arrangements will also be in place at the Eden Gardens on the day of the match and the police have plans of using sniffer dogs and closed-circuit cameras for better monitoring. The visitors were originally scheduled to play five matches in the series but later consented to an additional One-dayer after an agreement was signed between BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Lord Ian MacLaurin. The Indian team that will tour England this summer will reciprocate by playing four Tests and a triangular series featuring India, England and Sri Lanka. The additional one-day match will be played at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on January 22. Chennai (January 25), Kanpur (January 28), New Delhi (January 31) and Mumbai (February 3) will host the other matches in the series. PTI
