Mumbai: City police has drawn elaborate security measures at the prestigious Wankhede Stadium where a One-day match will be played between India and England on February 3 and would provide armed bodyguards to escort cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly to the playground in view of reports that terrorists had planned to kidnap them.We are taking no chances, a top police officer said here on Friday. Following a tip off from intelligence sources, city police has beefed up security at Tendulkar's Bandra residence in the wake of reports that Dubai-based don Aftab Ansari had planned to abduct Tendulkar, Ganguly and eminent scientist Abdul Kalam.Police have also stepped up vigil at strategic locations to thwart attempts by terrorists to create law and order problem in the city.Maharashtra police have also adopted short-term security measures for state police headquarters and embarked upon a contingency plan to be implemented shortly.
