Kochi: India and Zimbabwe were battling injury worries to their key players Anil Kumble and Andy Flower before their third One-day International on Wednesday. While Kumble was suffering from pain in his bowling arm, Andy Flower had a hip muscle injury but neither side ruled them out for Wednesday's game. Indian coach John Wright said the pain was a bit of concern to Kumble but 'in all probability he will play on Wednesday'. "If Kumble does not play on Wednesday then a spinner might come in his place," Wright said, but declined to name the replacement. "You should ask the selectors," he said. But Sharandeep Singh being the only spinner in the reserves, Wright must surely be giving a hint about him.
Zimbabwe captain Stuart Carlisle was more forthright in naming the substitute to Andy Flower if their batting mainstay was unable to turn out on Wednesday. "If he is not playing we will include medium pacer Douglas Hondo in the playing eleven," Carlisle said. Asked why a bowler was being considered in Andy Flower's place, he said an extra bowler would give him an added option. "We have top six batsmen who can score runs and an additional bowler would give us the extra option," he said.
