Lahore: Former cricket superstar Imran Khan has finally thanked his teammates for their role in Pakistan's 1992 World Cup victory.
In a dinner hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday to mark the 10th anniversary of its World Cup win in Australia, the former national skipper paid tribute to his colleagues who beat England in the final. "Many people still say to me that when we won the cup I failed to thank my teammates so today I thank my players for that stupendous win," Khan said. On being handed the trophy 10 years ago from then International Cricket Council (ICC) president Colin Cowdrey, Khan glaringly forgot to mention his teammates in his speech. "I was not ready for that speech because we came from nowhere to win the cup," he said. All but one member of the 14-man winning squad attended the dinner.
