India after a dreary draw in the fourth Test at St John's, Antigua, moves on to Kingston, Jamaica where the 5th and final Test will be played against West Indies from May 18. Both teams are level at 1-1 and the deciding Test could prove to be interesting provided both the teams play for a result.

If the law of averages is to catch up with Hooper and Chanderpaul who have knocked 3 centuries each in the series, West Indies could be in trouble. Neither Lara nor Tendulkar have played to their potential although Tendulkar is a step ahead of Lara in that he has scored a century despite three ducks in six innings. Lara has scored two fifties in five innings with one duck. Hooper has already scored over 500 runs in the series and Chanderpaul is behind him to cross that mark as well with 445 runs. None of the Indian batsmen have reached 400-run mark in the series. Laxman and Dravid are the Indian top run getters with 386 and 369 runs respectively. Ground wise, West Indies hold a fine track record with 18 wins and 5 defeats out of 36 Tests played at this venue and the amazing aspect is that it has not lost a single Test against Indians and has won 5 Tests and drawn 3 in the 8 Tests played against it at this venue. In the last series here in 1996-97 India had drawn the match. It remains to be seen whether the West Indies would keep its record in tact as it is very necessary for them to win the series or would surrender the initiative to India. Presented below are some of the stats relating to Tests at Kingston.
