London: England fast bowler Darren Gough was upbeat on Saturday about his prospects of an international return.
The 31-year-old Yorkshire paceman has played no first-class cricket so far this season after a knee injury forced him to return ahead of England's One-day series in New Zealand. Asked when he would return Gough, who has since had an operation, replied, "I would love to say the first One-day International (against Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge on June 27). "The way everything has planned out it all depends how I go in this next three or four days and if I can progress to bowling from a half run-up in the next week. "It can all happen quickly once you start getting back." England's selectors are due to announce the squad for the triangular One-day series, which also features India, on Wednesday.
