Kolkata: Flummoxing lensmen and scribes with a decoy car, Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly left for Mumbai accompanied by his wife and daughter on Monday enroute to England for a 83-day Limited Over and Test engagements.

Apparently to avoid waiting reporters at the NSC Bose airport, Ganguly packed his danseuse-wife Dona and daughter Sana into a car with rolled up tinted windows at the head of his fleet of vehicles. As the lensmen and electronic media personnel descended on it, Ganguly quietly stepped off another car at the rear of the convoy and walked briskly towards the airport terminal as black cat commandos and special branch personnel threw a security cordon around him.

When reporters realised they had been taken for a ride, they rushed back but by then it was too late. Except for a couple of photographers, very few could manage a good shot of the dashing left-hander. When a scribe requested Ganguly to give a minute to them, the Indian skipper politely refused with a smile. At 7:15 pm (IST), the Sahara Airlines flight took off carrying Ganguly, Dona and Sana.
