Colombo: Spin magician Muthiah Muralitharan has run into trouble with the Sri Lankan cricket board for remarks made on a television chat show, a top official told said on Saturday.

The off spinner has been asked to appear before an interim committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) after criticising the role of businessmen and politicians in the governing body. The interim committee will meet Murali on Tuesday and warn him to button his lip, said the official who did not want to be named. Muralitharan, who equalled New Zealand pacer Richard Hadlee's world mark of 36 five- wicket hauls in the first Test against Bangladesh this week, has been rested along with other top players for the second Test starting Sunday. He is now behind West Indian Courtney Walsh (519), Australian Shane Warne (450), Indian Kapil Dev (434) and Hadlee (431) on the all-time Test wicket-takers' list.
