Drain appointed as high performance manager for ACB

Melbourne: Essendon football manager Matthew Drain has accepted a management role with the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) and will leave the Bombers at the end of the Australian Football League season, the ACB said on Friday.

Drain will become the high performance cricket manager for the ACB, overseeing development of a planned centre of excellence for players, umpires, administrators and groundkeepers, incorporating the Cricket Academy. He will also be responsible for identifying and developing national talent as well as Australia's elite youth cricket competition structure.
