Shenley (Herts): The first day's play between India and England in the first four-day Test turned out to be a damp squib due to overnight rain. With the ground conditions not being conducive for play, the day's action was abandoned without a single ball being bowled.[an error occurred while processing this directive]The Indians are going into the Test riding high on the confidence of having scored two fine wins in the practice matches against MCC XI and the England under-21 team. After the miserable performance in the triangular One-dayer, which included World Cup champion New Zealand as the third team apart from the host England, the Indians are rearing to redeem their pride.The Indians lost the One-dayer against New Zealand by being shot out for the second lowest ODI score of 26 runs. They Indian girls, however, have since bounced back into confidence by winning their practice matches, both at Ireland and England.
