London: England named seven One-day specialists Saturday for its One-day series in Australia that also features Sri Lanka.[an error occurred while processing this directive]Those called up are opening batsman Nick Knight, stroke player Owais Shah and all-rounders Ian Blackwell, Paul Collingwood, Ronnie Irani, Jeremy Snape and Craig White. The plan is for the seven to join up with the England party already in Australia for the Ashes Test series. From the combined squad England will pick a 16-strong party for the triangular One-day series, which begins in December. England's chairman of selectors, David Graveney, said, "There is no urgency to select the full 16-man One-day squad at this stage and, by not doing so, we are keeping our options open to be able to assess the form and fitness of the Test match players on tour."But we needed to pick these seven specialist players now in order for them to plan their winters and prepare for the tour. Clearly there have been recent injury concerns over Craig White (abdominal tear) and Paul Collingwood (neck), and all players' fitness will be monitored nearer the time as normal."The triangular series will offer a last chance for players to impress ahead of February's World Cup in South Africa.
