Bangalore: The selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headed by former international star and Karnataka State Cricket Association secretary Brijesh Patel has decided to heed the request of the Indian think tank in the ongoing International Cricket Council Champions Trophy tournament to send speedster Javagal Srinath as a replacement for injured Ashish Nehra."We had decided to send Srinath, but had to wait for the clearance from the ICC as he (Srinath) was not in the original list of 20 players submitted earlier. We got the clearance from the ICC in the afternoon and Srinath now playing English county cricket has been asked to rush to Colombo," Brijesh Patel told Thatscricket.com in an exclusive chat from Mumbai."Srinath will reach well on time for India's final against Sri Lanka, scheduled for Sunday. He will be available for India against Sri Lanka," Brijesh, who is also proceeding to Sri Lanka in his capacity as the chairman of the selection committee, said.Brijesh also agreed to the idea mooted by Indiainfo.com chief executive officer B G Mahesh that the Indian players should show their solidarity to the tragic victims of the Gujarat Swaminarayan temple terror attack victims by standing in silence for a few minutes or wearing a black band. Brijesh said that he would convey the sentiments to the players in Colombo.
