Bangalore: Speedster Javagal Srinath returns to the Indian Test squad, while Haryana leg spinner Amit Mishra is the only new face in the 14-member team announced the selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the first two Tests of the three Test series against West Indies. Javagal Srinath has written to the BCCI stating that he was now available for Test consideration, Board secretary S K Nair told reporters while announcing the team for the Test to be played at Mumbai from October 9 to 13. Left-arm medium pacer Ashish Nehra, who has been included in the 14, will be considered subject to proving his physical fitness, the Board secretary said. The second Test will be played at Chennai from October 17. Coach John Wright was also present at the first full meeting of the new selection committee chaired by Brijesh Patel. The other selectors included Kirti Azad, Kiran More, Yashpal Sharma and Sanjay Jagdale. Srinath, is reported, to have changed his mind and consented to figure in the Test matches at the repeated behest of skipper Saurav Ganguly. Srinath, in fact, had announced his retirement from the longer version of the game after India's tour of the West Indies - where the Indians had lost the Test series and won the One-dayers. The Indian speedster had expressed a desire to concentrate on One-day Internationals in a build up to the World Cup, but his claims were ignored for the England triangular series and initially for the Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka. But at the insistence of the team management, he was recalled for the final of the ICC tournament against Sri Lanka. "I was expecting to be named in the squad. But it still is a great feeling. I am very happy to be included in the side," Mishra said at the end of the second day's play of the West Indies versus Board President's XI match. The team: Saurav Ganguly (captain), Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, Parthiv Patel (wicket-keeper), Ashish Nehra, Sanjay Bangar, Virender Sehwag, V V S Laxman, S S Das, Javagal Srinath and Amit Mishra.
