Hundreds of armed security personnel cordoned off the plane, carrying Sourav Ganguly's men from Lahore, as it landed at the Karachi airport.
The other passengers were asked to stay put till the cricketers disembarked. The players, escorted by Sindh Rangers, were then whisked away to the waiting bullet-proof bus for taking them to Sheraton Hotel.
The National Stadium, the venue of Saturday's One-dayer, has been virtually turned into a fortress with armed guards already being deployed at vantage positions.
Over 7,000 policemen including 1500 para-military forces have been deployed in and around the Stadium with senior police officials personally taking over the charge of its 14 gates, Karachi Inspector General of Police Syed Kamal Shah said.
Shah, who along with other top officers reviewed the full security dress rehearsal, said extra police force has been drawn from Sindh province to ensure trouble-free staging of the match.
"It is a big responsibility for us. We are up to it and hope that people will enjoy cricket," he said.
