Vijayawada: Giving West Indies due credit for its emphatic 135-run victory in the series decider on Sunday, skipper Rahul Dravid said India was outplayed in all departments of the game.

"They played better cricket than us and deserved to win the match," stand-in skipper Dravid said after India was bowled out for 180 in 36.5 overs in reply to West Indies 315 for six in 50 overs. A disappointed Dravid refused to blame either his batsmen or bowlers for the loss. "I asked the boys to give their 100 percent in the last two matches. I can't complain because everyone tried their best. "We were simply outplayed in all departments of the game," Dravid, who lost his first match as a skipper in four matches, said. Dravid said India was in control of the match till the 40th over when Marlon Samuels unleashed a flurry of shots to propel West Indies to a mammoth total. "West Indies has been batting very well in the series, but Samuels' knock today was something special. We thought we could restrict the West Indies to 275 or so but it didn't happen. Then we went on to lose some early wickets which put pressure on us," Dravid said. Triumphant skipper Carl Hooper said while he though the toss was vital, "We knew if we put up a good total, took a few chances and bowled well, we could win the match. And that's just what we did today".
