Indore: The Union government will support the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the players on the issue of sponsorship contract with the International Cricket Council (ICC), Union sports minister Vikram Verma said on Thursday.

"As long as the stand taken by BCCI and players on the issue is in the interest of the game and the country the government is with them and will extend all possible help to them in the matter," Verma told reporters. He said the government would extend its full support to the BCCI and the players on the issue and added that the ICC should adopt a practical approach in the matter.
