Karimnagar (Andhra Pradesh): Player-of-the-match Rochelle Rodrigues scored a fighting 45 not out to help Karnataka register a three-wicket win over fancied West Bengal in the quarter-finals of the women's Junior National Championship at the Junior College ground on Saturday.[an error occurred while processing this directive]Sent in to bat, West Bengal reached 143 for five in 40 overs riding on the fine opening partnership of 65 runs between captain Ananya Mitra and Arpita Ghosh. Leg spinner Deepika Babu put the skids on the West Bengal batsmen with a fine spell of eight overs, 12 runs and two wickets. Once Deepika completed her spell, Priyanka Roy cut lose to score 42 runs off 42 balls and looked to take away the match from the Karnataka girls.Karnataka medium pacer Roopa also chipped in with a steady spell and took three wickets conceding 33 runs in the process. Karnataka started its innings badly by losing the wicket of Janice in the second ball. Roopa and Sindhu struggled against the Bengal bowlers.Once Rochelle walked in at the fall of Roopa's wicket and changed the complexion of the game. She added 34 runs with Sindhu for the third wicket and 49 runs for the fourth wicket with Deepika. Rochelle stayed unbeaten to guide her team to victory though Karnataka lost a few more wickets. Priyanka and Pampa claimed two wickets each for West Bengal.Karnataka will now take on Madhya Pradesh in the semi-final on Sunday.
