Bangla drops three ex-captains from World Cup squad

Dhaka: Bangladesh opted for youth, dropping three former captains as it announced a 15-man squad on Tuesday for the World Cup to be held in southern Africa from February 8 to March 23. Khaled Mashud was retained as captain while former skippers Aminul Islam, Akram Khan and Naimur Rahman were not picked in the squad announced by chief selector Aliul Islam on Tuesday.

Masrafe Bin Mortaza, a young and promising pacer, has been recalled for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury on the New Zealand tour about a year ago.

Bangaldesh: Khaled Mashud (captain), Habibul Bashar, Al-Shahriar, Ehsanul Hoque, Sanwar Hossain, Khaled Mahmud, Monjurul Islam, Mohammad Rafique, Hannan Sarker, Mohammad Ashraful, Tushar Imran, Tapas Baishya, Alok Kapali, Masrafe Bin Mortaza and Talha Jubair.
