Chennai: Cola major PepsiCo has cashed in on the World Cup cricket fever by launching 'Pepsi Blue', taking the cue from the colour of the overalls worn by Indian cricketers.
Launching the product and also commemorative Pepsi bottles with attractive images of popular cricketers on them, Prakash Iyer, head of the company's operations in the Southern region, said, "We have a long association with cricket and are more concerned about the game and the cricketers." Asked about the action plan in respect of the legal battles presently faced by some World Cup sponsors, Iyer said, "We do not want to make any statements for publicity sake.
Even before the ICC mini World Cup in Colombo, our company had sent an official for a dialogue with the ICC authorities to find a solution. We will always find the best ways to resolve such issues, rather than taking the issue to a public arena."
Earlier, Vijay Subramaniam of Pepsi listed out the series of prizes offered to the buyers, which included the top six winners, who would lead the Indian team on the ground in different venues during the World Cup. The company has also launched a World Cup audio visual, titled 'Yeh Dil Mange World Cup'.
