Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) senior selection committee, which met on Thursday, picked a 15-member India 'A' team to tour the West Indies next month but withhold the announcement of names to the media. BCCI secretary in a statement has said that the Board had expressed its eagerness for the India 'A' team to play in the Carib Beer Cricket Series (Busta Cup) this year on the invitation of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB)."However, owing to some communication gap, the itinerary of the competition did not reach on time and BCCI came to know at the very last minute that the team had to reach immediately," the statement said."A request was made to the WICB to postpone the first two matches of the India 'A' team, so that the team could leave on February 6 to take part in the competition as almost all the players (other than the World Cup team) would be playing in the four crucial Elite Ranji Trophy matches scheduled between February one to four and also logistic difficulties the team cannot leave before February 6," the statement added."At the same time the WICB is having a genuine problems to re-schedule the itinerary even after BCCI requested WICB again to reconsider the position," the statement said. "If they agree the 'A' team would leave for the West Indies on February 6, if not the BCCI has explored the possibility that the India 'A' team can still tour the West Indies in February-March to play a few other matches.""If this too is not possible, the India 'A' team would certainly tour West Indies in the near future as per mutual convenience," the statement added.
