Mumbai: Former Indian skipper Mohammed Azharrudin, who is facing a life ban imposed by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Friday said master batsman Sachin Tendulkar should open the batting for India in the World Cup commencing in South Africa from February 9.Azhar, who led India in three World Cups and has played with Tendulkar for a long time, told before the start of Magic of Lords in 1983, a function to cheer the Indian team for the forthcoming World Cup, that the best batsman in the side should open the innings. When asked which team had the best chance of winning the World Cup, Azhar said, I rate Australia as the best team because of its all round excellence. When asked what he thought of the other participating teams in the World Cup, he said whichever team excels in all departments on that particular day will win.Bowling and fielding is where India should brush up to put a good performance, Azhar commented when asked as in which departments of the game India lacked. When asked whether he was keen to put his two sons to play cricket, he replied, they are too young. However, they have started playing the game now. Some of the Kapil's devils, who won the coveted World Cup in 1983--Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Madan Lal and Kapil himself attended the function. PTI
