Johannesburg: Play was abandoned in Pakistan's World Cup warm-up game due to rain on Tuesday as a provincial side chased a solid innings by Waqar Younis's team, posting 264 in its allotted 50 overs at a ground South of the city.

After an unusual mutual agreement between Younis and Gauteng captain Clive Eksteen, it was decided that Pakistan would bat first at the Lenasia cricket ground, where the visitors traditionally have plenty of support from spectators. Top scorers for Pakistan were Younis Khan, who was run out on 50, while flashy right- hander Salim Elahi smashed 43 before being bowled by Eksteen.

Also showing some skill with the bat was one of Pakistan's mainstay batsmen Yousuf Youhana, scoring 32 before being trapped again by Eksteen. When play was called off, the Gauteng provincial team was on 123 for four after 30 overs.
