Belindas 80 off 119 balls with five hits to the fence set the Australians to a fighting total of 214 in 49.5 overs. Karen Rolton contributed a useful 34 runs as she added 68 runs for the second wicket with Belinda.Rest of the Australian batsmen failed to capitalise on the good start and the New Zealanders restricted the visiting side in 49.5 overs. The Australians, however, struck back strongly with their bowling effort with Cathryn Fitzpatrick (2) and Emma Twining getting the early breakthrough to send New Zealand reeling to 27 for three. The New Zealanders never recovered from the early set back and lost wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 105 in 30 overs. Right arm medium pacer Julie Hayes returned a tidy spell of seven overs, two maidens, 31 runs and three wickets as the Australians took the crown.
