Johannesburg: England's appeal to reschedule its controversial World Cup match against Zimbabwe was still up in the air on Friday after more than five hours of deliberation by the event's technical committee. However an International Cricket Council (ICC) spokesman said that a press conference would take place in Johannesburg on Saturday at 8.30 am local time (06:30 GMT/ 12.00 hrs IST).
But given the months of protracted wrangling surrounding this match, the press conference may not yield a definitive decision. England was due to open its World Cup campaign against Zimbabwe in Harare on February 13 but eventually pulled out citing security fears in the wake of a death threat. Nasser Hussain's men will now play their first match of the tournament against the Netherlands at Buffalo Park, East London, on Sunday.
