Kolkata: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya on Tuesday said that the team management at the World Cup was empowered to decide matters like composition and batting order, and the BCCI had no plan to interfere in it. It is the team management which decides such issues. The Board normally does not interfere into it," Dalmiya told reporters.
Dalmiya's comment followed speculation in a section of the media that it was the Board president who influenced Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly to vacate the opener's slot for Virender Sehwag and come down to number four in the bating order.
On the series of protests in various corners of the country after India's humiliating nine-wicket defeat against Australia, Dalmiya said "It is the people who popularise the game. They are upset as they feel that the results are not up to expectations."
