Hussain injured, Stewart leads as England bats first

Port Elizabeth (South Africa): Namibian captain Deon Kotze won the toss and sent England in to bat in the World Cup Group 'A' match at St George's Park here on Wednesday.

England captain Nasser Hussain was ruled out of the clash because of a neck injury. The skipper was replaced in the line-up by his Essex county colleague Ronnie Irani with Alec Stewart taking over the captaincy.

England: Alec Stewart (captain), James Anderson, Ian Blackwell, Andrew Caddick, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Ronnie Irani, Nick Knight, Marcus Trescothick, Michael Vaughan and Craig White.

Namibia: Deon Kotze (captain), Jan Burger, Louis Burger, Sarel Burger, Daniel Keulder, Bjorn Kotze, Bryan Murgatroyd, Gerrie Snyman, Stefan Swanepoel, Melt van Schoor and Rudi van Vuuren.

Umpires: Srinivas Venkataraghavan (India) and Simon Taufel (Australia).

TV umpire: Nadeem Ghauri (Pakistan).

Match referee: Mike Procter (South Africa).
