Cape Town: West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan was stretchered off the Newlands ground on Friday after being felled by a delivery from Sri Lankan pace bowler Dilhara Fernando.
The 22-year-old Sarwan went down after being hit on the helmet with a 138kmh delivery in the 15th over with his side on 62 for 2 chasing 229 to win its crucial World Cup Group B day-night match. Sarwan, who made 10, lay motionless for a few moments before paramedics decided he was unable to continue.
