Johannesburg: Under-fire South Africa skipper Shaun Pollock ducked for cover by skipping the inquest into his team's dismal World Cup performance.Pollock was widely criticised after the Proteas, who began the tournament as co-favourites, failed to get beyond the first round and he was expected to attend a meeting of the national selection committee on Wednesday.Committee convenor Omar Henry refused to pile more problems onto the shoulders of Pollock who is away on holiday with his wife."With all the emotion of the World Cup, the fact that his wife is pregnant, he felt he would rather just stay on holiday with her," Henry told the Business Day newspaper."He gave all his instructions to coach Eric Simons to pass it on to us at the meeting."Copyright AFP 2001
