Mumbai: In a special gesture, Mumbai mayor Mahadev Deole on Friday called on batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar at the latter's residence to felicitate him for doing the country proud by winning the 'player-of-the-tournament' award in the just-concluded ICC World Cup in South Africa. After visiting Tendulkar's residence, Deole said the ace cricketer was very happy to receive him (Deole) and said it was a big boost for the players to see so much of support from people from all walks of life. "This kind of support helps us to perform better and give hundred per cent when we are playing for the country," Tendulkar, who scored more than 669 runs at an average of 66.90 from 10 matches in the World Cup, said. "Playing for the country is every Indian's dream and it is our job to give in cent per cent on the field," Tendulkar told Deole during the meeting. Extras:
