Leeds (England): India batsman Yuvraj Singh, who arrived at Yorkshire on Tuesday, said the advice of team-mate Sachin Tendulkar had been crucial in his decision to join the Headingley-based county. Tendulkar was the county's first overseas star in 1992 and 21-year-old Yuvraj said, "I have been attracted by the reputation of the club and by what Sachin has told me. He told me it is a great opportunity for me. They are nice people who will take care of you, and it is a great experience." Yuvraj, yet to play Test cricket, was only signed by Yorkshire after Australia's Matthew Elliott had to return home due to a persistent knee injury. But Yuvraj, who has played over 70 One-day Internationals, is set to make his Yorkshire debut later on Wednesday following Anthony McGrath's call up into the England squad for the first Test against Zimbabwe. In 73 One-day Internationals, the Indian middle-order batsman has scored 1,644 runs at an average of 31.01 and taken 23 wickets with his left-arm spin. Copyright AFP 2001
