BCCI announce 36 probables, Srinath opts out

Mumbai: The national selectors on Tuesday chose to include all members of the India 'A' tour for the preparatory training camp for the forthcoming India-New Zealand series starting in October. Thus it was a long list of 36 probables all of whom will undergo training in Bangalore from August 14.

Ace speedster Javagal Srinath opted out of the training camp due to injury and for which he is under going treatment. Board secretary Karunakaran Nair said that veteran paceman Javagal Srinath has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to excuse him from the two camps as well as the Challenger Trophy tournament (September 10-14 at Bangalore) as he has suffered an injury, the nature of which the Board secretary did not indicate.

When further asked whether the lanky paceman would make himself available for the Test series against New Zealand Nair said, "we would discuss about it with him later". However Srinath when contacted said that he had inflamed an old knee injury and needed to rest it for 3-4 weeks. Nair also said the three Indian cricketers who are currently engaged in county cricket - Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh had been excused from attending the camp and would join the rest on September 1.

The list of probables: Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Dinesh Mongia, Parthiv Patel, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Ajit Agarkar, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Sanjay Bangar, Shiv Sunder Das, Gautam Ghambir, Wasim Jaffer, Satyajit Parab, Hemang Badani, Sridharan Sriram, Rohan Gavaskar, Ambati Rayudu, Vijay Bharadwaj, Murali Kartik, Amit Mishra, Amit Bhandari, Laxmipathi Balaji, Avishkar Salvi, Irfan Pathan, Mithun Manhas, Ajay Ratra, Tilak Naidu, VVS Laxman, Sairaj Bahatule, Ramesh Powar, Jai Prakash Yadav, Reetinder Singh Sodhi, Sarandeep Singh and Sidharth Trivedi.
