Bangalore: Veteran leg spinner Anil Kumble indicated on Thursday that he rejected an offer from an English county to play for them and chose to be with the family for the long break after the World Cup in South Africa. "This time also, I had an offer from English county. But it was important for me to spend time with family.
That has been a great boon. It helped me greatly," the 32- year-old told reporters. Kumble, who is attending the conditioning camp here along with 35 other probables, said in the earlier two breaks he got in his career, he played county cricket. "It is an important break and it has come at the right time. All enjoyed a good break and it's a long season ahead. We are now looking forward it," he said.
Kumble said the upcoming series against New Zealand would be a tough one. "(But), obviously, we are happy that we have home advantage". He said the tri-series also involving Australia is even more important as India would be later touring Down Under. "It's very important for us to win the Test and One-day series for the season ahead," Kumble stressed.
