Kiwis in India - Ramesh recalled to India 'A' team to take on Kiwis

Chennai: Sadagopan Ramesh and Conner Williams were recalled, while Sreesanth, Munaf Patel and R P Singh, the young medium pacers, have been given a chance to play in the Board President's Eleven team and the India 'A', to play against the visiting New Zealand team at Vishakapatnam and Rajkot respectively. Stylish middle order batsman V V S Laxman has been made to play under Virendra Sehwag, who will captain the Board President's XI. These two teams were picked here today by four of the five national selection committee members, Indian team coach John Wright with S K Nair, secretary, Board of Control for Cricket in India, as convener of the committee. Brijesh Patel, who was indisposed, did not attend the meeting, according to S K Nair, who also said that Patel was consulted over phone in the process of the selection of 28 players to represent these two teams. To a query on the deliberations at the meeting, Nair said "it is not fair to disclose the names that were discussed at the meeting". Following are the teams: Board Presidents eleven for three day match against New Zealand at Visakhapatnam from Sept 26 to 28: Virendra Sehwag (capt), Akash Chopra, Shiv Sunder Das, V V S Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Sridharan Sriram, Ajay Ratra(WK), Amit Mishra, Ramesh Powar, Amit Bhandari, Tinu Yohanan,Wasim Jaffer, Siddarth Trivedi and Amit Uniyal. India "A" for the three day match against New Zealand atRajkot from Oct 2 to 4: Mohd Kaif (capt), S Ramesh, AkashChopra, Rohan Gavaskar ,Conner Williams, Hemang Badani, Deep Das Gupta (WK), Murali Karthik, Sarendeep Singh, Sresanth, Munaf Patel, Mithun Minhas, AbhijitKale and R P Singh.
