Vishakapatnam: The entire morning session on the opening day of New Zealand's tour opener against the Board President's XI at the newly built ACA-VDCA stadium was washed out due to rains on Friday. Umpires Jasbir Singh and S K Sharma carried three inspections of the ground and the pitch from 09.00 hours (IST) before deciding to delay the start of the match.

With a low-pressure area developing over the entire coastal belt of Andhra Pradesh, the steel city has been lashed by rains since Tuesday and the showers continued on Friday. The groundsmen made frantic efforts to make the ground condition playable, carrying out extensive mopping up operations, but their efforts proved futile.
