Mohali: Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly would be fit in time to lead the team in the upcoming triangular Limited Overs series, team physiotherapist Andrew Leipus said.[an error occurred while processing this directive]
"It is only a matter of four or five days, he (Ganguly) will be fit for the tri-series," Leipus said. The triangular One-day International series featuring New Zealand and Australia besides hosts India begins Oct 23.
Ganguly was ruled out of the second Test against New Zealand starting in Mohali on Thursday after he underwent a minor surgery for an abscess on the left thigh at a local hospital on Tuesday. Ganguly reportedly played the first Test in Ahmedabad last week despite feeling minor pain on his thigh. The surgery, however, was necessitated after the abscess turned septic and needed to be removed immediately.
"I thought I will be okay, but there is a lot of pain and it is just not possible to play," Ganguly said on Wednesday. Vice-captain Rahul Dravid will lead the team in Ganguly's absence while Yuvraj Singh takes the middle order spot in the playing eleven. PTI
