Bangalore: The start of the third day’s play in the third and final Test between India and England was delayed due to an incessant drizzle. The covers that were earlier removed for a scheduled early start at 9.38 to make up for Thursday’s lost overs were brought back twice as the drizzle kept playing hide a seek.

With Sachin Tendulkar at the crease, there was bigger attendance at the stadium and the crowd in the Eastern galleries had come fully prepared with band, bugles and et al.

Meanwhile, a joint press release issued by match referee Dennis Lindsay and Board on Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah said, "The match referee being the chairman of the playing control team had an informal meeting with the captains and coaches of the teams concerned, warning them to play the game in the spirit of cricket."
