Madras: Rain halted play midway through the first innings in the opening match of the Limited Overs tri-series between India and New Zealand at the Chepauk. India, electing to bat after winning the toss on Thursday, were 141-3 in the 27th over at the interruption. Sachin Tendulkar was unbeaten on 48, while Yuvraj Singh was on 29. Umpires David Shepherd and A V Jayaprakash ordered lights to be switched on by the 20th over as dark clouds hung over the stadium. World champions Australia are the third team in the tournament.
