Bangalore : Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly today thanked fast bowler Javagal Srinath, who has decided to quit international cricket, for serving the country for a long time and doing the nation proud. "He served Indian cricket for a long time with distinction. We thank him for making Indian cricket proud," Ganguly said.

"He is a fast bowler. Probably his body is not holding up," he said. Recalling the superb performance of Srinath, Ganguly said: "It's been a pleasure playing with him for so many years. At the end of the day it is his personal decision." Ganguly, who had earlier persuaded the Karnataka pacer to come out of his retirement, said this time such a question did not arise. "I believe he is announcing his retirement this evening. So the question does not arise. His motivation to play for the country while fit is to be respected," Ganguly said.
