Hyderabad: Karnataka caved in to a fiery spell by speedster Narender Pal Singh (6/31) for 100 and conceded 77 run first innings lead for hosts, who were 187 for six at close in the second essay in the Elite B Ranji Trophy cricket match at Gymkhana grounds in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Visitors, who resumed at 64 for three, never got into the game as N P Singh troubled every batsman with his line and pace as pitch turned very hostile on second day at Gymkhana grounds. Karnataka lost seven wickets in a space of 36 runs to fold up at 100 and hosts, who scored 177 in first innings, were 187 for six at draw of stumps. N P Singh ripped through the visitor's batting line-up dismissing R Barrington (28), B K Venkatesh Prasad (2), V S Tilak Naidu (3), Stuart Binny (1), Sunil Joshi (8) and N C Aiyappa (1) to complete the wreckage of Karnataka innings. The only batsman to withstand the onslaught was C Raghu who remained unbeaten on 16. N P Singh, who claimed six of the seven wickets that fell, joined the elite club of 250 wicket takers when he dismissed the last man N C Aiyappa for one. The hosts started their second essay in style, with opener Daniel Manohar adding 54 runs for the first wicket with A Nandkishore (38) and 50 runs for the third wicket with Vinay Kumar (33) on his way to script a fluent 57 with seven fours. Arjun Yadav (14) and Shivaji Yadav (0) were at the crease when stumps were drawn and Hyderabad has a lead of 264 runs with four wickets on hand and two days of play left.
