Mumbai: After putting his "power" behind Visa International for six years, the Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has ended his association with the brand. "Sachin was with us for a long innings of six years and the contract was not renewed early this year as the focus of the company shifted to educating consumers about its card business," Visa International South Asia country manager Santunu Mukherjee said in Mumbai on Friday. Clarifying that the issue had "nothing to do with monetary aspects", he said the company had initially roped in the batting maestro, currently touring Australia, to establish the brand in the country. At present, Visa International has shifted its focus to educating consumers and that could be seen from the new commercials, he added. Mukherjee also ruled out taking any other player for the time being. Visa International currently has a cardbase of 16 million, including around five million credit cards, in the country.
