Aurangabad: Jaya Sharma's unbeaten 96 and her 126-run opening stand with Anju Jain helped Indian women thrash New Zealand by nine wickets to register their second consecutive victory in the second One-day International played at ADCA ground in Aurangabad on Sunday.
Replying to visitors' 207, Indian women batted superbly with their openers Anju Jain and Eve-of-the-Match Jaya Sharma hitting Kiwi bowlers all over the ground.
However, their partnership was broken when Anju was caught brilliantly by Rebecca Steele of her own bowling when she had made 58 runs.
After that Jaya and Mithali Raj saw to it that India does not lose any wicket and India romped home with a 9-wicket victory.
Earlier, put into bat, New Zealand scored 207 runs losing seven wickets in their stipulated 50 overs with M Lewis and H Tiffin top scoring with 47 and 44 runs respectively.
For India, N Khadeer claimed two wickets while M Raj and H Kala chipped in with one wicket each.
