Hyderabad: Hosts Hyderabad tightened their grip on the game after dismissing Tamil Nadu for 240 against their first innings total of 447 and the visitors, in course of follow on, were 37 for one in the Elite B Ranji Trophy cricket match played at Gymkhana grounds in Hyderabad on Friday.

Speedster Vishnuvardhan wrecked Tamil Nadu innings by accounting for the top batting cream with a five wicket haul, while Fiaz Ahmed and Shivaji Yadav completed the formalities by taking two wickets apiece bundling out visitors for 240 to give home team a thumping 207 first innings lead.

Resuming at 87 for three, Tamil Nadu batsmen were 149 for six at lunch and the innings collapsed like ninepins in the next session to some accurate spin bowling by Shivaji Yadav.

Only Sriram (58), S S Viswanath (50) and S Sharat (33) had shown some grit but could not take the team past danger mark and were forced to follow- on.

Vishnuvardhan, who cracked a breezy half-century, returned with impressive figures of 27-5-97-5.

Second innings was no different with Hyderabad bowlers getting on the top and troubling the batsmen with teasing line and testing length.

Shivaji Yadav foxed Dinesh Karthik (10) with a flighted delivery and the visitors were 37 for one when stumps were drawn. They are 170 runs short with nine second inning wickets on hand and a day left.
