Though Karnataka has established a first innings lead of 190 runs as against 285 scored by Assam, the hosts have a Herculean task to perform to achieve their target of an outright victory to sail into the semi-final. With a day's left and Assam having nine wickets in hand, Karnataka face an uphill task.
Rowland who remained unbeaten on 111 on Friday managed to add 89 runs more to the side's score and Joshi pairing with D Ganesh (55) made their valuable contribution to the side's good score.
Rowland reached fence 26 times during his 567 minutes stay in crease facing 434 balls and Joshi lofted two sixes and hit 13 boundaries facing 166 balls.
Assam began its reply in a disastrous note loosing its opener Sajjad Hussain (2). Kiran Powar (22) who joined the other opener Parag Das (23) playing a cautious innings ensured no damage done to their side.
Assam were 52 for the loss of one wicket when stumps were drawn for the day.
