Match Referee clarifies on bonus points

Kolkata: The Match Referee G R Viswanath clarified that Pakistan 'A' has been awarded five points for the win against Sri Lanka 'A' without earning the bonus point while the Lankans has been awarded one point for the loss but not conceding the bonus point.

Viswanath in a media release said the bonus point rule species that bonus point could be given to a team that achieves victory with a run rate 1.25 times that of the opposition.

Pakistan 'A' scored 244 all out in 48.3 overs, with a run rate of 4.88. In response, Sri Lanka 'A' were 196 all out in 44.5 overs.

Comparing the scores, it was observed that Pakistan scored at a rate of 1.244 times than Sri Lanka, which was less than 1.25. Therefore, Pakistan could not be awarded a bonus point for the match, the release added.
